Wandering Wounds by James L Finley

Wandering Wounds
is a must-have debut poetry book by the talented poet James L. Finley, whose poetry creations have won many awards and poetry contests on a wonderful writing community writing.com when he was still a part of it.

The poetry that lies within the book is very emotional and it also makes you think. There is much to draw from these written creations. I am proud to own a copy of this book, which the author personally autographed for me, and will treasure it for a life time.

James L. Finley’s poetry book Wandering Wounds sheds a light on topics of great importance that are widespread in today’s society. The topics include physical and sexual abuse, alcoholism, addiction, and illness. Other topics include life’s trials, relationships, heartbreak, and love that we have all experienced and can relate to. I have read this book from start to finish and I was not left disappointed. I was affected by the content and the writing in this book. James L. Finley is one talented poet and his book is definitely a book worth reading.

Poetry lovers out there will no doubt love this great book. It is worthy of praise, worthy of being in your collection, worthy of being discussed. So, if you happen to love and appreciate poetry check out Wandering Wounds and spread the word…

When I heard that James L. Finley was planning to publish a poetry book I was very excited. I couldn’t wait to hold his book in my hands. I couldn’t wait to dive inside and indulge in his poetry. I had read his poetry before and knew that he would not disappoint and he did not. His book is amazing!!!

I am amazed by his talent. Not only does he affect you with his words but he also leaves you thinking. You are left with a lasting impression after reading his poetry and you are left wanting more. He is the king of metaphor and allegory. Besides that, he is able to tackle any poetic form and nail it from start to finish. And it looks so effortless. He doesn’t overwhelm you with emotion. He has just enough of it to make you feel and bring forth your own emotions to the poetry you are reading.

A talent like that deserves to be in print and deserves to be heard around the world. His words are very effective and they leave us thinking. His poetry is not fluff. It’s got depth, it’s got meaning, it’s got soul—–everything great poetry should have.

Wandering Wounds is James L. Finley's first poetry book. He also has five chapbooks in his Chapbooks of Life poetry series, which is available on Amazon. They are written under the author name J. L. Finley.

Time to Get Back into My New Poetry Book

Back in 2021 I had this idea for a new poetry book to be titled Seasonal Memories. It would include four sections, one for each season. The poetry in each section would include nature with memories of the past or something that happened in the past mixed in.

I’ve stopped working on this book but I don’t want to leave it unfinished. I will have to go back to my manuscript and see how many poems I have left to write. I was aiming for ten poems per section. Seems like a good enough number. If I really feel inspired I may add more poems to the manuscript. Each section doesn’t necessarily need to have the same number of poems in it but I’d prefer it to be the same.

I don’t want to force anything but I do want to make progress so any ideas I may have I will jot them down. I can always edit something or get rid of it altogether if I don’t like what I’ve come up with.

I think it starts with opening the manuscript, going to a blank page, and seeing where that takes me. Just waiting for ideas or inspiration to come may not lead to anything. I’ve got to give myself a push. Perhaps the passing and memory of a fellow poet this summer can help steer me on the path of progress.

Once I finish writing, I’ll need to proofread and edit. Then I’ll need to format the manuscript and think about the book cover. I will start working on it once I come up with what I want the cover to be. The book will be published with Lulu just like my previous books. Once it’s out there it will become my 13th book, not including the two poetry anthologies I put together and published, featuring poems from around the world.

My 8th Book - An Unforgettable Journey

I am currently working on my eighth book titled An Unforgettable Journey. The book will be broken up into three sections - poetry, lyrics, and prose. I have already finished making my book cover and my book is halfway done. I just need to write more material for it and then I will be all set to share my newest creation with the world.

An Unforgettable Journey will be my second book that will include poetry, lyrics, and prose together in one volume. The topics in this book will of course include love/romance, relationships and heartbreak but there will be other topics as well. Diary of a Crush (my fourth published book) was the first one to have all three styles of writing together. That book, however, was solely focused on love/romance, relationship, and heartbreak.

I hope to have An Unforgettable Journey out by the end of this year. If that won't happen it will definitely be out in the beginning of 2014.

My 7th Book, (A Crimson Tide) Is Finally Published!

A Crimson Tide, Lena Kovadlo
My 7th book A Crimson Tide is finally published. It is my second poetry book. Below is a description for this book:

Our lives are like the tide, forever flowing in different directions, taking on different paths and shades based on varying circumstances that come upon them. Our lives are a forever changing of colors just like the tide.

As you dive into the pages of A Crimson Tide you will find yourself swimming through the various colors of our lives from nature’s beautiful palate, to red strokes of love and heartbreak, to the black veil that falls upon us when loved ones pass away from us, to darkening the pale where things become darker, deeper, philosophical, and psychological, where we battle with ourselves, and question our existence and our purpose in life.

This book is currently available at lulu.com. It will be available on amazon soon!

Update on My 7th Book...

I am currently working on my manuscript for my 7th book - 2nd full book of poetry. Originally the title for the book was My Every Color but I have changed it to Filling in the Rainbow. I seem to like this title much better than the first one but that doesn't mean that I won't change my mind and go back to the first title again or change it to something else all together.

Coming up with titles for books is not always the easiest thing to do. It can't just be any title. It has to fit the concept of the book and the writing that's inside it. While the above two titles fit in withe book I am working on I am not quite content with either of them. So, I will have to ponder some more about the title. I want it to be perfect.

My book will have sections just like my first book Pieces of Me. I've already moved everything into sections I had already prepared, then got rid of two sections and moved those poetry to existing sections, and created a new section and moved related poetry into it. I haven't really written any new material for the book since there is plenty already in it. There is only one section that needs writing and that's a rants section. Only one item in it so far. I may get rid of that section altogether unless I manage to write some rants.

I really want to publish this book by the end of the year so don't want that section holding me down. It's not that important to have in the book anyway.

With everything already organized I now have to edit everything... Need to make sure no typos exist and that no lines need editing. I also have to look over the formatting of each poem and see how to align/shape the lines...

Other than that I am making great progress. Once that's done I have to start thinking about the front cover of the book. I already have some ideas... Excited about bringing them to life...

My 7th book, New Book of Poetry

I am very excited to be working on my seventh book. It will be a book of poetry. I came up with the concept for the book at the time when I was working on my first poetry book Pieces of Me and can't wait to finally bring it to life.

Just like Pieces of Me this new book will be divided into sections, with each section featuring poetry on similar topics. I already have a lot of poetry previously written that will go into this book but I will probably write more poetry for it, especially for those sections that don't have a lot of poetry in them at this time.

The working title for this book is My Every Color but it may very well change. Still, it will be related to the concept of the book that I had come up with. I will keep you updated on my progress.

This book will be released through the same publisher I have used for years - LULU (lulu.com).

Wandering Wounds

I have come across a touching debut poetry collection Wandering Wounds, written by the amazing poet James L. Finley, whose talent shines through in every verse.

The book is organized into sections, each having its own common theme. The areas covered in this book include illness and recovery, depression, abuse of all kinds, life’s frustrations, love, and more…

With every verse the reader is enveloped by extreme emotion and is transported into a world where the mind wanders and wonders thanks to the metaphor and/or allegory that is implemented throughout the book.

There are dark pieces, very sad pieces, pieces that make us laugh, pieces that envelop us in beauty, pieces that make us think, pieces that make us smile, and more… There is something for everyone to enjoy.

This book is a masterpiece that readers will find touching and quite enjoyable. Once readers dive into this book they will at least somewhat and in some way relate to the content, whether through direct personal experience or from something they witnessed happen to someone else.

It can be said without a doubt that we will be seeing more of this remarkable poet and will be enjoying his new work for years to come.

I am proud to own the treasure that is Wandering Wounds. If you have not picked up a copy do so today. It is a must-have book that people all over the globe will be buzzing about for a long time. So don’t pass up the chance to swim through the deep waters of his artistic craft and check out this must-have creation today.

Diary of a Crush

I am currently working on a new book of verse Diary of a Crush. It will contain poetry, songs, and fantasies (written in prose form) about crushes, love, relationships, heartbreak, and anything else related to guys. Not all pieces will necessarily be of a completely personal nature but there will still be bits of my experiences in each one. You will surely relate to the content in the book. As this is a work-in-progress, the release date for this book is yet to be determined.
If you have stories of your own to tell about crushes feel free to share them… I’d love to read them.
